Government of Québec
Geomatics and the Government of Québec
The Government of Québec produces, distributes and uses a growing amount of geospatial data. Due to the availability of this colossal amount of geographical information, government departments are better able to accomplish their missions. Today, geographical information is employed in a wide variety of fields of endeavour, such as socio-economic development, property tax systems, protection of rights, health, education, transport, protection of the environment, management of natural resources, emergency measures, etc., and stimulates the development of geomatics in Québec.
In order to better serve its data clientele in this field, the Government of Québec set up a coordination and dialogue structure. This dynamic organization contributes to the creation of a common vision among all government actors, which in turn facilitates the sharing and re-use of geographical information, among other things. In the first place, this involves concretely, a common official geographical foundation, followed by the implementation of global framework strategies for the production, management, distribution and accessibility of geographical information. This approach makes government management simpler and results in improved services to individual citizens and companies. The new management methods today place Québec in an enviable position on the world geomatics scene.

Autodesk
A world leader in digital design technologies, Autodesk offers products, services, and solutions that enable customers to create digital models and workflows, allowing them to experience their ideas before they become a reality—and not simply the visualization of ideas, but how those ideas will perform in the real world.
Organizations that adopt Autodesk Geospatial solutions save time and money almost immediately, greatly minimizing time-consuming data conversion, error-prone data redundancy, and the loss of valuable engineering precision that comes from managing data separately. This all leads to a reduction in siloed information, while enabling organizations to manage and access the most current data. Increased operational efficiency is the result.
Designed to bridge the gap between CAD and GIS systems, the components of Autodesk Geospatial work together to break down the barriers around data, so that organizations can design, manage, publish, and integrate spatial data more efficiently. Add more people or information—it doesn’t matter. By adopting Autodesk Geospatial, organizations can build powerful solutions that easily grow as the organization evolves, ensuring that spatial data is used to full advantage.
Utilities, governments, and engineering firms realize their ideas for building and operating critical infrastructure using integrated Autodesk Spatial Information Management (SIM) solutions. These solutions streamline processes, ensure service continuity, enhance security, create accountability and lower risk by enabling extended teams access to the most up-to-date, accurate spatial information across the entire organization.
From documenting what’s on the earth to creating structures to be part of it, Autodesk® technologies make the most of valuable mapping, engineering, and design data. The mapping and GIS fields, Federal government, local governments, public works agencies, the transportation industry, engineering and construction industry, the emergency response services field, and the utilities industry are all serviced by Autodesk products.
